Jorunna funebris is a dorid nudibranch and one of the easiest slugs to recognise on Philippine dives.

Its white body is covered in dark brown to black ringed spots, and its gills and rhinophores are dark. The mantle has a soft, velvety look.

It feeds on sponges, and you will often find it crawling on or near blue sponges. It is a common sight on Philippine reefs and muck sites, usually out in the open during the day.

Because it is fairly large and slow, it is a friendly subject for beginners. Try a low angle to catch the gills and rhinophores against the blue water.

It appears on page 89 of Nudibranchs of the Philippines.
