The eightband butterflyfish (Chaetodon octofasciatus) is a pale yellow to white butterflyfish crossed by eight thin, dark bars, including one through the eye.
It grows to about 12 cm and feeds on coral polyps, so it depends on healthy live coral. It is usually seen in pairs moving between coral heads on sheltered reefs.
The eightband butterflyfish is found in the Indo-West Pacific, including the Philippines, where it lives on inshore reefs and sheltered bays, sometimes in murky water.
