The emperor angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) has a striking juvenile with blue, white and black concentric rings, while adults are blue with yellow stripes and a dark mask over the eyes.
It grows to about 40 cm and feeds mainly on sponges and tunicates. Juveniles often hide in caves and under ledges, where they can act as cleaners for other fish.
The emperor angelfish is found across the Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, where it lives on coral reefs and walls, with juveniles hiding in holes and under overhangs.
