Doriprismatica sibogae

Doriprismatica sibogae is a chromodorid nudibranch, part of the colourful family that includes many of the reef's best-known slugs.

It looks almost identical to Doriprismatica atromarginata. It can be told apart by the intense yellow colour of its mantle and foot, and by the white line that separates the black mantle edge from the yellow back. Its wavy, ruffled mantle edge is typical of the genus.

Like other chromodorids it feeds on sponges, and it is often seen crawling in the open on reefs and walls during the day.

When you find a yellow slug with a black edge, look closely for that white line before you log it. A macro shot of the mantle edge makes the ID easy later.

It appears on page 138 of Nudibranchs of the Philippines.
