Chromodoris quadricolor

Chromodoris quadricolor is a chromodorid nudibranch, part of the colourful family that includes many of the reef's best-known slugs.

It has a dark central band edged in white, an orange outer band, and orange gills and rhinophores. It is very similar to Chromodoris magnifica, so check the pattern of the bands closely when making an ID.

Like other Chromodoris it feeds on sponges. It is often seen in pairs or small groups on Philippine reefs, crawling in the open during the day.

Its bold stripes make it a great subject. Look for two or more together for a more interesting shot.

It appears on page 100 of Nudibranchs of the Philippines.
