Favorinus tsuruganus

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Mollusca
Class: Gastropoda
Order: Nudibranchia
Family: Facelinidae
Genus: Favorinus
Species: Favorinus tsuruganus

Favorinus tsuruganus is an aeolid nudibranch, part of the group of slugs that carry finger-like cerata along their backs.

This one has orange cerata spotted in black, white oral tentacles and dark rhinophores. Nudibranchs of the Philippines shows three colour varieties of this species, so colours can vary.

Favorinus are known for eating the eggs of other sea slugs, so it is worth checking around nudibranch egg ribbons.

It is small and slender, so a macro lens is a must. Try to keep the cerata and rhinophores in focus together with a side-on shot.

It appears on page 246 of Nudibranchs of the Philippines.
