The pictus blenny (Ecsenius pictus) is a small combtooth blenny with a pale body marked by rows of dark spots and lines, usually seen perched on sponges or coral. Its big eyes and alert posture make it a charming macro subject.

It grows to about 5 cm and lives on coral reef slopes, often around sponges and coral heads in clear water. It grazes on algae and detritus and darts into holes when disturbed.

The pictus blenny is known from the western Pacific, including the Philippines, where it can be found on reef slopes and walls.
