Like many members of the Phyllodesmium genus, this species is highly sought after by underwater photographers and marine life enthusiasts due to its unique texture and subtle coloration.
Although rarely encountered, Phyllodesmium rudmani has been documented at several sites in the Philippines, including Romblon, famous for its world-class macro diving and biodiversity. These sightings further highlight the Philippines as one of the best places on Earth to discover rare and unusual marine species hidden within the reefs and muck diving environments.
