Eubranchus sp. 1

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Mollusca
Class: Gastropoda
Order: Nudibranchia
Family: Eubranchidae
Genus: Eubranchus
Species: Eubranchus sp. 1

Eubranchus sp. 1 is an aeolid nudibranch in the family Eubranchidae. It has not yet been formally described, so it is known only by this working name.

It is a small, slender animal with clusters of pale, knobbly cerata along its back. Eubranchus species are often very small and easy to overlook.

Members of the genus live and feed on hydroids. The book shows one sharing a hydroid with a skeleton shrimp.

In the Philippines the best way to find it is to search hydroid colonies slowly with a good light. A macro lens or diopter helps, and a dark background makes the pale cerata stand out.

It appears on page 222 of Nudibranchs of the Philippines.
