The barred sand conger (Ariosoma fasciatum) is a pale conger eel with faint dark bars along its body and large eyes. It is usually seen with only its head poking out of the sand.

It grows to about 40-50 cm and spends the day buried, emerging at night to hunt small fish and crustaceans over sand. When disturbed it slips backwards into the sediment.

The barred sand conger is found in the Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, where night divers find it on sandy and muddy bottoms. It shares this habitat with the spotted garden eel.
