The barred-fin moray (Gymnothorax zonipectis) is a small, shy moray with a pale brown body marked by dark bars and spots. A dark streak runs behind its eye.
It grows to about 40-50 cm and hunts small fish and crustaceans, mostly at night. During the day it stays hidden deep in the reef.
In the Philippines it is found in reef crevices and rubble, and is most often seen on night dives.
