The neon damselfish (Pomacentrus coelestis) is a brilliant blue damsel with a yellow belly and tail, often seen in loose groups over rubble. In sunlight its blue colour almost glows.
It grows to about 9 cm and lives on reef slopes and rubble areas, feeding on plankton and algae just above the bottom. Males guard eggs laid on rocks or rubble.
The neon damselfish is widespread in the Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, where it is one of the most eye-catching small fish on rubble slopes.
