The clear sundial (Architectonica perspectiva) is a sand-dwelling snail with a flat, spiralled shell banded in brown and cream. Seen from below, its deep, open umbilicus looks like a spiral staircase.
Its shell grows to about 4-6 cm. It burrows in sand by day and feeds on sea pens and other soft cnidarians at night.
In the Philippines it is found on sandy slopes, most often seen crawling on night dives.
