Aplysia parvula

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Mollusca
Class: Gastropoda
Order: Aplysiida
Family: Aplysiidae
Genus: Aplysia
Species: Aplysia parvula

Aplysia parvula is a small sea hare, usually red-brown to green, with dark-edged parapodia and rhinophores. Its colour often matches the algae it eats.

It grows to only a few centimetres and feeds mainly on red algae, from which it takes its colour and chemical defences. It can release purple ink when disturbed.

In the Philippines it is found on algae-covered rubble and reef flats, where it is easily overlooked.
