Antennatus tuberosus, the tuberculated or pygmy frogfish, is a small frogfish that lives deep inside branching corals, often hidden right in the middle of a coral head. Its skin is covered in small bumps, and its colour, often cream, yellow or pinkish with dark bands on the fins, blends with the coral branches.
It rarely exceeds 9 cm. It ambushes small fish and crustaceans that shelter among the coral, using a short lure to tempt them. Because it stays so deep in the branches, divers usually only get a glimpse.
The species is found across the tropical Indo-Pacific, including the Philippines, where it occurs on shallow coral reefs and may be found by searching carefully among branching Acropora and Pocillopora corals.
